Preservation Lecture Series: Frade Arquitectos

Thu, Apr 16    6:30pm

Please join us for a lecture by Juan Pablo R. Frade and Jorge Rodriguez Donday (Frade Arquitectos) followed by a conversation with Jorge Otero-Pailos (GSAPP, Jorge Otero-Pailos Studio).

Frade Arquitectos, founded in Madrid in 2005, operates internationally across both the public and private sectors, with a strong reputation for excellence in the design of cultural, heritage, and civic buildings. The practice is guided by a commitment to environmental and social sustainability, developing projects that prioritize energy efficiency and the responsible use of natural resources. Central to its ethos is a deep interest in architecture as a means of enhancing collective quality of life, grounded in the study of architectural heritage and the exploration of innovative approaches to construction.

With over 300 exhibitions designed, Frade Arquitectos has established widely recognized expertise in museography and exhibition design. The studio has collaborated with leading institutions such as the Centre Pompidou, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, and the Kulturforum in Berlin. Its work is distinguished by a consistent focus on the coherence of the final outcome, supported by a multidisciplinary team that engages in the entire creative process—from urban-scale interventions to showcase design and artifact supports.

Among the studio’s most notable projects are the National Archaeological Museum of Spain, the House of Architecture in Madrid, and the new Museum of Islamic Arts in Fez, Morocco. Frade Arquitectos has received numerous awards for design excellence, including the National Prize for Renovation and Heritage Conservation for the Alhambra Museum.
