This week, studios kick off and we welcome Liu Jiakun for the first lecture of the semester. Plus, lots happening across the GSAPP community.

Liu Jiakun, the 2025 Pritzker Prize laureate, is an architect and the founder of Jiakun Architects. His practice focuses on social reality, local context, and vernacular craftsmanship, exploring the relationship between individual and collective memories through architecture.

Liu Jiakun delivers this academic year’s John Foerster ‘64 Fund Lecture, with an introduction by Dean Andrés Jaque and a response by Jing Liu (GSAPP, SO-IL) and Bart-Jan Polman (GSAPP).

Tuesday Talks provides GSAPP students with the opportunity to engage with the wider alumni community for informative mentorship.

• The Natural Materials Lab, led by Faculty Lola Ben-Alon, is awarded a Carbontech Leap by NYSERDA to scale up the Lab’s composites toward commercialization.

• Faculty Laura González Fierro‘s Strever Farm is featured in the New York Times.

• Faculty Reinhold Martin, with Debashree Mukherjee (MESAAS), leads the Center for Comparative Media as well as the University Seminar on the Theory & History of Media.

• Faculty Steven Holl receives the Kanter Tritsch Medal in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.
