Please join the current GSAPP UD class, faculty and fellow alumni for a holiday drink, and discuss the work of the Fall Semester Studio The Climate Crisis: Imagining a Green New Deal in the Hudson Valley DECEMBER 7, 5:00 pm Wood Auditorium, Avery Hall Following the final review of the fall semester studio, students and invited panelists will present a (brief) summary of the work, followed by more informal conversations over drinks. As always, there will be fun, fascinating and gorgeous videos to watch, new ideas to explore and old friends to catch up with. We hope to see you. Climate change is a crisis of unevenly experienced and systemic injustices that challenges scientists, practitioners, and community members alike. The Green New Deal—US H. Resolution 109 introduced by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Edward Markey, echoed by elected officials and activists around the world—addresses these challenges head-on, linking equity, the environment, and the economy to the rapid and far-reaching transformations necessitated by the climate crisis. The students and faculty this fall used the document as a brief for urban design action in the Hudson Valley. For more on the studio, visit the GSAPP UD website here. **Special thanks to the Buell Center for helping fund Fall studio-related travel.* If you would like to attend the review/workshop portion (starting at 2pm, email kk730@columbia.edu) Looking forward to seeing you all!
