Zarith Pineda ‘18 MSAUD is an architectural and urban designer as well as the founder of Territorial Empathy, a research laboratory that specializes in mitigating urban conflict through architectural interventions. Most recently, Zarith has focused on the D15 Diversity Plan, an unprecedented community engagement and research project that investigates racial segregation in New York City’s public schools.

Rachel Barnard ‘11 M.Arch is the Executive Director and Founder of Young New Yorkers, an arts diversion program for teens being prosecuted as adult in criminal courts. Rachel’s work has been supported by the Tamer Fund for Social Ventures and she was named the 2018 NYC Department of Cultural Affairs’ Public Artist in Residence (PAIR) as well as a Fellow for Socially-Engaged Art from A Blade of Grass.

The Albert Lepage Center for History in the Public Interest at Villanova University will fund up to 10 projects that creatively engage with the broad range of questions, concerns, policies and practices raised by past pandemics and how historical study can further public understanding of the current Covid-19 crisis.

The Tamer Fund for Social Ventures provides seed grants of up to $25,000 to nonprofit, for-profit, and hybrid early-stage Columbia University affiliated social and environmental ventures. Social or environmental ventures are defined as those working to solve a social or environmental problem.

The DUMBO Improvement District (DUMBO) and Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP) are seeking proposals for the Downtown Brooklyn Public Art + Placemaking Fund. The $600,000 fund will award grants of up to $50,000 for improvements to cultural spaces that serve to connect neighborhoods, revitalize public spaces, and increase access to cultural programming.

REIMAGINE, a new initiative of The Architectural League, is a series of weekly Zoom discussions in order to elaborate individual and collective ideas and propositions. Each session will have a specific focus, but also allow for more open-ended development.
