No. 9 – An exhibition by Frida Escobedo
Oct 20, 2017 – Feb 3, 2018
Arthur Ross Architecture Gallery
The Ross Architecture Gallery presents No. 9, an exhibition conceived by Frida Escobedo. It explores the history of la Ruta de la Amistad (“Route of Friendship”) in Mexico City—a series of nineteen monumental abstract sculptures by artists from seventeen countries, realized as part of the cultural program of the 1968 Olympics. Through archival photographs, documents, and a sculptural installation that reimagines American artist Todd Williams’ ninth “station” along la Ruta, the exhibition proposes an alternative interpretation of this ambitious project.
