October 20 is Columbia Giving Day, an 24-hour online fundraising event to bolster support for the most urgent priorities across the University.

Today every dollar donated to GSAPP will go towards tuition relief, and donors may choose which scholarship funds to support. The collective generosity of our community is central to the School’s effort to welcome and support students from all backgrounds.

In 2020, 175 GSAPP alumni and friends were inspired to give on Columbia Giving Day. Together, we raised nearly $60,000 to support current students and create more possibilities for the future.

Please consider participating in Giving Day this year, and help us ensure that each student has the support they need to thrive.

Despite this time of cautious optimism and renewal, many of our students continue to experience hardship and economic vulnerability. Join us as we strive to close the gap in financial need for even more students.

With the help of alumni and friends, the School has been able to increase annual financial aid disbursements to its Masters students by 25 percent since 2014. GSAPP Scholarship Funds are crucial to bridging the gap in need experienced by students each year. Designated for current use, these Funds can be used immediately to support enrolled students.

In October 2020, GSAPP committed $1 million to establish the Norma Merrick Sklarek ’50 B.Arch Scholars Fund, intended to promote diversity, inclusion, and equity by breaking down barriers to access for graduate study. A cornerstone of the GSAPP Anti-Racism Action Plan, the Fund is being used over the next three academic years to support full tuition financial aid awards aimed at positively addressing inequity and barriers for students who have historically been underrepresented at GSAPP.
