Fall 2018 Semester
On the occasion of welcoming our 4th class of alumni members at the GSAPP Incubator at NEW INC, we kick off the new semester with Friday’s discussion on changing the status quo in arts, technology, and design entrepreneurship, culminating with a lecture by GSAPP alumnus Evan Sharp. Evan Sharp

Evan Sharp is the co-founder of Pinterest, where he uses his background to lead the front-end creative and design teams. He previously worked at Facebook as a product designer, received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Chicago and studied architecture at Columbia GSAPP.

This day-long conference assesses the current state of housing in North America through a combination of case-studies and expanded thematic discussions among architects, academics, and advocates.

Model Projections focuses on an ecosystem of architectural model making during the mid-twentieth century. Among other materials, it features original photographs, correspondence, and ephemera from Columbia University Avery Architectural & Fine Arts Library’s archives of architects Harvey Wiley Corbett and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill; photographer Louis Checkman; and especially the pioneering model maker Theodore Conrad.
