Roy R. Pachecano ‘93 M.Arch '03 MSRED released his new book “A Passion For Places [Texas Edition]” on May 1, 2024.
The book illustrates how [Texas] landmarks are connected to places around the world. From The Alamo to SpaceX to NASA’s MissionControl and the AstroDome, the region possesses a diverse collection of styles and innovation over the centuries. Contributors include Honorable Henry Cisneros, HUD Secretary under President Clinton, Michael Buckley, FAIA–former Director MSRED Program @ GSAPP, Dean Jorge Vanegas, TAMU School of Architecture, and Presidential Professor Rodney Hill. The book silently–yet graphically–underscores how ideas are borderless at a time when erecting walls to define a border represents displaced values.
