In addition to the events taking place at Avery Hall listed below, the Center for Architecture is hosting a program entitled “Housing as Intervention: Architecture Towards Social Equity” on September 17, 6:00pm-8:00pm featuring faculty Kaja Kühl and Sharon E. Sutton. This event will examine how housing projects, and the design processes behind them, can be interventions towards greater social equity.

Who Owns the City?
Saskia Sassen, the Robert S. Lynd Professor of Sociology and Co-Chair of The Committee on Global Thought at Columbia University, will discuss some of the commonly used markers to identify the city and their transformations.

Felecia Davis is an Assistant Professor at Penn State’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, the director of the University’s research group SOFTLAB, and the principal of the design practice Felicia Davis Studio. Davis is interested in developing computational methods and design in relation to specific bodies in specific places engaging specific social, cultural, and political constructions.
