Susan Schuppli (Centre for Research Architecture, Goldsmiths) will deliver the lecture “JUST ICE.” Introduction by Claudia Tomateo followed by response and Q&A by Tomateo and Marco Ferrari.
Susan Schuppli is a researcher and artist based in the UK whose work examines material evidence from war and conflict to environmental disasters and climate change. Current work is focused on learning from ice and the politics of cold.
Organized by the MS in Advanced Architectural Design program as part of the AAD Arguments Lecture Series.

Thursday, July 18, 6:30PM GSAPP’s AAD student-run podcast, rAADio, returns for the fourth season, under the question, “WHAT IF?” This season rAADio unpacks narratives, challenges historical legacies, amplifies marginalized voices, and explores imaginative methodologies. rAADio unpacks ‘speculation’ as a tool for creating alternative realities grounded in truth, while also questioning the very nature of the truth.

Dean Emeritus Bernard Tschumi was awarded the Grand Prix d’Architecture 2024 from The Académie des Beaux-Arts an international prize awarded to an architect for his or her entire career. The Prize has been previously awarded to Alvaro Siza, Henri Ciriani, and Christian de Portzamparc.
- Wallpaper Magazine’s USA 400 List, highlighting the people defining America’s creative landscape, names several GSAPP faculty: Dean Emeritus Amale Andraos, Professor Steven Holl, Professor Kate Orff, Dan Wood ‘92 M.Arch, Ada Tolla, Giuseppe Lignano, Alessandro Orsini, Dominic Leong '03 MSAAD, and Eran Chen alongside several other GSAPP alumni and affiliates.

Professor Mabel O. Wilson has been appointed as Chair of the African American and African Diaspora Studies Department (AAADS) at Columbia University, effective July 2024. AAADS explores the historical, cultural, social, and intellectual contours of the development of people of African descent.

Dean Andrés Jaque / Office for Political Innovation performed Transspecies Kitchen (2022) at Middelheim Museum. Transspecies Kitchen is a kitchen made of stone containing information about the earth’s natural formation. In a one-off activation of the kitchen, participants were invited to come and taste what is being prepared in the kitchen.
