A Call for Professional Reviewers

Arch & UD Career Services is inviting GSAPP alumni and design professionals to participate in the Professional Portfolio Review for the 2025 Graduating class. The main focus of this workshop is to provide critical feedback on the student’s work samples and resumes, as well as to explore potential career opportunities for them. This event also offers students the opportunity to enhance their interviewing skills and expand their professional network by engaging in pre-scheduled 30-minute meetings with alumni and design professionals. This event will also include an alumni lunch.

Kavyashri Cherala ‘17 MSAAD, César Delgado Rodríguez '22 MSAUD, Rebecca Noble '18 MSUP, and Jennifer Romeo '12 M.Arch are part of the 2024 Class of Forefront Fellows from the Urban Design Forum. They are a diverse cohort of emerging leaders investigating how design can address a social or political challenge facing New York City. This year’s interdisciplinary cohort will explore how to build a more age-friendly city.

Scott Archer ‘13 MSAUD, a principal at DAVID RUBIN Land Collective, will manage the design team for the New Pennsylvania Avenue Plan. The New Pennsylvania Avenue Plan will guide the redesign and management of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC, which is located between the White House and the U.S. Capitol.

Join Aybars Aşçı ‘99 MSAAD and Julia Higdon, authors of Designing for Empathy, to discuss the inextricable relationship between developmental psychology and our physical environment. The conversation will be moderated by TC Record Executive Editor, Prof. Nancy Lesko, with a panel of experts including Prof. Michelle Samura (Santiago Canyon College), Prof. Lindy Roy '90 M.Arch (Columbia GSAPP) and Prof. Elizabeth de Freitas (Adelphi University). This thought-provoking discussion will explore how architectural design influences human behavior, emotions, and learning processes. Our distinguished panel will delve into Asci’s groundbreaking research on creating spaces that foster empathy, particularly in educational settings.

In July, Pauline Claramunt Torche ‘19 MSUP presented at the Transportation Research Board’s 2nd Annual Conference on Advancing Transportation Equity the community engagement work for the Reimagine the Cross Bronx Study led by NYC DOT, NYC DCP, State DOT, and NYC Health Department. Pauline is leading the sub-consultant team at AECOM, supporting the City’s teams with community engagement strategies. Josef Szende '10 MSUP and Justin Romeo '18 MSUP helped lead the NYC DOT team for this study. Josef is a Mobility Studies Lead for Special Projects at NYC DOT and is currently leading this study. Justin was the Director of Special Projects at NYC DOT and co-led this study with Josef before he departed from NYC DOT this summer.
