The Doryan Winkelman ’86 MSRED Lecture Series brings global perspectives on real estate to GSAPP, treating development as a lens on capital, territory, and transformation. Launched in 2018, the series has featured speakers such as Patrick Albrand ’88 MSRED, President of Hines France; World Bank urban specialist Vanessa Velasco; international developer Henry Taic ’86 MSRED; and Kent Yang ’96 MSRED, who leads logistics infrastructure across Southeast Asia.
For Winkelman, a lecture by James Rouse in the early 1980s catalyzed a shift from architecture to real estate, and led him to GSAPP’s first MSRED class. The lecture series he later endowed continues that trajectory: a space where students encounter new models of practice and modes of thinking.
As the MSRED program evolves, the Winkelman Lecture remains a critical point of contact, bringing together students and practitioners to consider how development operates across markets, geographies, and urgent planetary conditions.
