The 2026 PhD in Urban Planning Lecture, “End of Empire, Planning Education, and Promise of Humane Urbanism,” will be delivered by Faranak Miraftab (UIUC), with a response by Faculty Hiba Bou Akar.

The PhD Symposium “On the Edge of Legibility: Architecture and its Peripheries” keynote lecture will be delivered by Ijlal Muzaffar (RISD).

Andrea Bagnato will present his latest book, Terra Infecta, followed by a conversation with Faculty Ateya Khorakiwala to discuss medical narratives and Italy’s urban and rural landscapes.

Faculty Iñaki Echeverria (Iñaki Echeverria & Asociados) is an architect and landscape urbanist based in Mexico City. His lecture will be followed by a conversation with Director of M.S. AUD Kate Orff.

The Planetary Media Symposium assembles scholars, artists, designers, and thinkers to examine the significant possibilities of representation in the climate crisis and the crisis of technological imagination.

Ignacio Galán will discuss his latest book, Architecture’s Kinships, exploring diverse alliances and permeations of knowledge across media, followed by a conversation with Faculty Emanuel Admassu, Marina Otero Verzier, and Dean Andrés Jaque.

This Coalition will discuss New York City cinematographically and architecturally as an urban constellation where public life, storytelling, and collective imagination continually reshape the built environment. Participants include Sophie Cavoulacos (MoMA), Zackary Drucker, and Ed Halter (Bard College, Light Industry).

Coalition 6: Of Filmmakers is co-curated with Ivan Lopez Munuera (Bard College), as a collaboration between Columbia GSAPP and Bard College.
