Urban Fabric & Scale

Tue, Nov 10, 2020    7pm

Urban Fabric & Scale invites Architecture and Urbanism practices working in/on Latin America to discuss interventions situated in the Latin American urban fabric and their capacity to cross different scales from urban furniture to infrastructural systems. Inviting practices working in Latin America allows the conversation to be ingrained in the specificity of their localities bringing forth the discussion around “identity.” The invitee will share case studies and examples from their authorship to guide the conversation towards a dialogue of the synergies, possibilities, ruptures, and tensions of the urban space.

Jesica Amescua Carrera & Mariana Ordóñez Grajales, Comunal Taller, Mexico

Diana Wiesner, Executive Director of Fundación Cerros de Bogotá, Colombia

Ines Guzman Mendez & Gregory Kahn Melitonov, Taller Ken, US & Guatemala

The conversations have been co-curated with Adjunct Associate Professor Anna Dietzsch and co-sponsored by Columbia University’s Institute of Latin American Studies and Columbia GSAPP; with support of CGC Rio and CGC Santiago.
