The success of the Design Create Engage Campaign builds on GSAPP’s capacity across all scales of the built environment. Over the past five years, alumni from across programs have attended events, supported students as mentors, volunteered, and donated at increased levels. Our GSAPP community is stronger than ever and through this shared bond our community will have a greater impact on the future of the built environment.

Together with GSAPP and our alumni and friends, we celebrate raising $28M. Thank you for your partnership in providing transformational opportunities for the entire GSAPP community.

Funding Priorities

CORE EXCELLENCE

To maintain the School’s leadership position in positively shaping the future of architecture and the built environment, GSAPP continues to significantly invest in its students and faculty.

Over the past five years with additional funding in support of Financial Aid, the School has been able to increase individual awards by 25% for Masters students and create three full-tuition scholarships. Through the Core Excellence Scholarship Challenge all new gifts made in support of endowed financial aid were matched - dollar for dollar- through discretionary funds made available by GSAPP.

Distinguished Faculty renew existing strengths and build new ones. The first endowed professorship dedicated to the Architecture Program has been established through a generous grant from the IDC Foundation. The School has also been able to add a full time faculty position dedicated to the study of real estate development finance with support from the Glascock Family Fund.

Support for the Student Experience has enabled interdisciplinary work on a number of faculty led research projects. Further support will allow for enhancements to Career Service programming and additional experiential learning during a student’s time at the School.

RESEARCH

Through the Design Create Engage Campaign, GSAPP has launched a series of new research initiatives that will build on its capacity to contribute to a more sustainable, equitable, and creative world.

Launched in 2018, the Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes (CRCL) works across disciplines at Columbia by bridging design with science and policy to improve the adaptive capacity of people and places.

Researchers at the Center for Spatial Research are leading collaborations from across the University to map immigration and neighborhood change in New York City during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The Columbia GSAPP Housing Lab brings together faculty and students from across the disciplines represented at the School and Columbia University at large to leverage expertise around some of the most critical challenges facing urban housing today.

Join Us

Alumni from across programs and generations are lending their energy and expertise to the GSAPP community.

Involvement with the School builds connections, is an opportunity to join in the exceptional work of the faculty and students and an investment in educational opportunities for the future. During the campaign the School will look for measurable progress on how alumni are choosing to stay affiliated and engaged.
