LatinGSAPP is an interdisciplinary organization dedicated to promoting, discussing, and reflecting on contemporary issues and ideas in Latin America. Founded in 2018 by a group of like-minded students from across the globe, it represents the diverse programs of the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP).
LatinGSAPP recognizes the importance and timeliness of impactful practice and research in Latin America and by Latin Americans globally.
Our primary objective is to raise awareness of this work and encourage cooperative involvement. We aim to weave a cross-functional network that fosters collaborative thinking by connecting areas of expertise within and beyond the school. In turn, we support this network by engaging with their projects, expanding their reach, and enhancing opportunities for future cooperation. Likewise, we focus on connecting with fellow Latin American organizations at Columbia University and beyond to identify potential overlaps and shared interests.
LatinGSAPP is continuously strengthening its network through a dynamic lineup of events designed to inspire and connect. We regularly host panel discussions with experts, roundtable talks on pressing issues, social hours, happy hours, and collaborative meet-ups with other student organizations. These events offer opportunities to engage with thought leaders, exchange ideas, and be part of a vibrant community focused on shaping the future of Latin American practice and research.
