Pluriverse Rising: Decolonizing Design

A lecture by Wanda Dalla Costa with a response by Lola Ben-Alon, Assistant Professor and Director of the Building Science and Technology Sequence of the Master of Architecture program at Columbia GSAPP.

Fall 2021 public programming will be a virtual/in-person hybrid. Columbia affiliates holding a green pass may attend in-person events, while the general public may attend via Zoom Webinar. All events will be recorded and available for later viewing unless otherwise noted.

Wanda Dalla Costa, AIA, LEED A.P. holds a joint position at Arizona State University between The Design School as Institute Professor where she directs the Indigenous Design Collaborative and the School of Construction as Associate Professor. She is a member of the Saddle Lake First Nation, the first female First Nation architect licensed in Canada, and has spent nearly 20 years working with Indigenous communities in North America.

She is Principal of TAW, and architecture and participatory design practice working on both sides of the Canada-United States border. A space of possibility, plurality, relationality, collaboration, spatial agency, and resilience - TAW’s work is grounded in Indigenous ways of doing and being.
