Bernadette Ma ’17 M.Arch/MSRED is the Founder and Managing Principal of Real Estate Investment, Development and Design (REIDD), a multidisciplinary firm that bridges real estate investment, development, and design. Its current projects include boutique ground-up condominium buildings in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

About the Speaker
Bernadette commenced her career in Manhattan contributing to notable redevelopment projects including the MetLife Building and One & Two Penn Plazas, as well as new high-rise residential developments in Manhattan while working at MdeAS Architects and Hill West Architects. Her clients included Vornado, Tishman Speyer, Irvine Company, LeFrak Organization, and Toll Brothers. She later served as the Managing Director of a private family office where she oversaw the establishment and evolvement of an opportunistic and value-add real estate portfolio in Manhattan and Brooklyn during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bernadette has had her contributed and independent design and writing work published on The New York Times, The Art Newspaper, Press of Atlantic City and CLOG. She was named a Distinguished Visiting Fellow in 2018 and served as a Lecturer at UC Berkeley. She was also a Co-Chair of the Berkeley Alumni Board of New York and was involved in the Chancellor’s New York Advisory Council. Currently, Bernadette is an Honorary Judge at the Haas School of Business’ Seed Fund Program at UC Berkeley and a Member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the College of Environmental Design.
In 2021, she formed The Bernadette Ma Distinguished Visiting Fellowship at UC Berkeley upon the invitation from former Dean Vishaan Chakrabarti. The fellowship features influential leaders through semiannual lectures under the Master of Real Estate Development + Design Program, with past fellows including Owen Thomas, Marc Norman, Alberto Kritzler, and Christopher Hawthorne.
Bernadette holds a B.A. in Architecture from UC Berkeley and a dual degree in Master of Architecture and M.S. in Real Estate Development from Columbia University.
