The Historic Preservation Inquiry Series is generously sponsored by the Zabar Family Fund.

Mark Pasnik will speak about Heroic: Concrete Architecture and the New Boston as a publication and longer research project, expanding the topic to include the nature of this work as an advocacy project for understanding and reframing the value of concrete modernism. Pasnik will be speaking to various formats of advocacy, including several exhibitions. Beyond this, Pasnik will touch upon how this research into concrete has influenced his practice’s design projects.

Mark Pasnik is a founding principal of over,under, a Boston-based architecture and design practice, and is co-curator of the pinkcomma gallery. He has taught at the California College of the Arts, Carnegie Mellon University, Northeastern University, Rhode Island School of Design, and Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he is currently a professor. Mark received the AIA Young Architects Award in 2013 and serves on the Boston Art Commission and the executive board of the Boston Society of Architects. With Michael Kubo and Chris Grimley, he has authored Heroic: Concrete Architecture and the New Boston, published by The Monacelli Press in 2015.
