TOWERS IN THE DARK: MIDCENTURY URBANISM AND NEW YORK’S PUBLIC HOUSING SYSTEM

Wed, Feb 21    4pm

The promise of “Towers in the Park” as a solution to affordable housing has soured as many of these towers have become symbols of segregation and inequity in our cities today.  Arvind Sohoni, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Innovation New York City Housing Authority will discuss how we got here, and the way forward. The talk will be introduced by GSAPP faculty, Dr. Geeta Mehta.

This event is an in-person and virtual. Space is limited, but the event will be recorded and made available on The Center for the Living City’s Youtube.

Register here for the online stream.

This lecture is co-sponsored by the GSAPP Urban Design Program, Real Estate Development Program, and Center for Sustainable Urban Development, Columbia University, with Center for the Living City, Marywood University School of Architecture, and AIA Northeastern Pennsylvania.
