Fri, Sep 27, 2024    2pm

Hack-A-House is a 24-hour virtual hackathon-style competition for college and grad students to brainstorm and pitch innovative ideas to improve housing affordability. For this year’s Hack-A-House, 20 MSRED students are participating across 5 teams. Adam Lubinsky, Interim MSRED Program Director will serve as one of the judges for the competition.

Three prompt topics are released at noon MT on Friday, September 27. Each topic focuses on a specific challenge impacting housing affordability. After selecting a topic, participants conduct research, meet with industry experts, and ultimately prepare a short slide deck to present live via Zoom to judges and other competitors. Judging takes place on the morning of Saturday, September 28. Winners - one for each topic - are announced the same day.

Hack-A-House is hosted in partnership with Columbia GSAPP, UC Berkeley, University of Denver, Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies, and University of Arizona.
