Please join GSAPP Career Services for an information session on 9 Things I wish I knew Before Starting My Architecture Career with GSAPP alumni, Nika Mo, ‘18 MSAAD, Huanyu Chen, '18 MSAUD and Luna Zhou '19 M.Arch USC.

This workshop provides hands-on experience and advice from three NYC architecture professionals, offering an honest look at life as a full-time associate. Gain real insights into the challenges and rewards of starting your architecture career and transition from GSAPP to the professional world.

Nika Mo, '18 MSAAD, AIA, PMP, LEED GA is a Project Architect at Moody Nolan. Mo is an experienced project architect with seven years of leading commercial and healthcare projects worldwide. Her expertise covers real estate development, from master plans to commercial repositioning and healthcare facilities. Skilled in project management, design, and delivery, Mo excels in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, offering a strategic, solution-driven approach while prioritizing human-centered design.

Mo is dedicated to mentorship and supporting emerging designers. With experience in firms ranging from boutique studios to global corporations, she offers a unique perspective on the evolving architectural landscape and design’s impact.

Huanyu Chen '18 MSAUD, Associate Urban Designer and Assistant Studio Director at STARR WHITEHOUSE Landscape Architects. Huanyu plays a key role in project visualization and production management. As Assistant Studio Director, he collaborates with senior staff to streamline workflows and translate urban systems, client needs, and community desires into clear designs. Huanyu also brings expertise in NYC standards, including DOT’s Street Design Manual, NYC Parks Details, and DCP zoning.

Huanyu earned his Master’s in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University, focusing on landscape infrastructure and public space. He is dedicated to mentoring early-career professionals and advocates for cross-sector collaboration to create innovative, community-driven design solutions.

Luna Zhou,'19 M.Arch, USC, AIA, LEED GA is a Project Architect at Gensler. Luna Zhou is a visionary healthcare architect with six years of experience creating innovative, compliant, and human-centered healing environments. She collaborates with hospital leaders, clinical teams, and stakeholders to turn complex challenges into functional, future-ready spaces.

Luna bridges operational needs with regulatory requirements, advocating for design that enhances patient outcomes and staff well-being. She has led projects from outpatient clinics to large hospital masterplans, delivering solutions that align with evolving healthcare standards and sustainability practices.

Luna is passionate about mentoring emerging professionals and promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration. Her work has been recognized for advancing community health equity, and she advocates for architecture’s role in creating inclusive, resilient care ecosystems.
