This is also Architecture: Designing for People, Food, and Cultural Space

Fri, Apr 3    6pm

Ayesha Erkin is the Creative Director of People, Places & Spaces Studio, a practice working at the intersection of food, design, architecture, and cultural storytelling. Trained in vernacular and regional architecture, her work explores the “Architecture of Eating,” migrant memory, belonging, and how culture is built through space, food, and community.

Ayesha is also the founder of Global Girls Food Club, a community of 1,200+ members across 10 cities, and DATE LAB, an experimental brand exploring dates as cultural and design material. Her work spans experiential design, large-scale installations, brand strategy, and residencies, with commissions from Rolls-Royce, Zegna, and the Bukhara Biennial, among others.

This talk reflects on building an interdisciplinary practice across architecture, food, and cultural research, and asks: What does it mean to truly design for people? An honest conversation about building a practice on your own terms and the possibilities that emerge from curiosity.

Organized by Civic Collective, an AAD student initiative.
