In collaboration with the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and extending the Global Africa Lab’s ongoing investigation of Radical Imaginaries in an Afro-Future City, the symposium Afro-Imaginaries for the Future of Harare will consider “portraits” of public space and collective action and the ways we think about urban imaginaries linking Harare to other sites in the African Diaspora. Afro-Imaginaries for the Future of Harare in conjunction with the Global Africa Lab Summer Workshop asks how history, memory, imagination, dreams and desire can inform social practice?
The cross-disciplinary panel discussion includes prominent Zimbabwean visual artists, architects, designers, and thinkers as we consider post independent Zimbabwe and urban engagement and change.
