Beirut, New York and Rio de Janeiro
Due to social demands and complexity, landscape field have, progressively, opening its operation and its scale as a design activity and disciplinary subject. Traditionally is associated to the gardens’ history. However is defined modernly as a complex discipline because of the addition of new categories of analyses and design possibilities in a scale never seen before.
The deepening of the ecological issues and the compromise with an environmental aesthetic are challenging the contemporary landscape discipline. For those professionals and researchers, landscape cannot be seen as a product, but as a continuing process. This process is part of an evolutive operation between space and time. For them it is interesting the research about sustainable technologies, projects that addresses ecological regenerative practices and the city seen as an ecosystem.
From this perspective, the New Borders for Landscape lecture invites SCAPE Studio, L.E.FT and EMBYÁ to show through their design practices strategies to benefit from nature as a landscape and geopolitical tool.
