Invisible Men: From Urban Guerrilla to Prison Inmate to Urban Planner

Recently the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning and the Journal of Planning Education and Research sent out a call for papers with the focus issue topic: Planning, Prisons and Policing. Mr. Forbes, drawing heavily from his most recent book Invisible Men, will discuss becoming an urban planner after prison and how a parallel professional path exists between the formerly incarcerated re-entering society after prison and the young aspiring urban planner entering professional life and practice.

The Lectures in Planning Series (LiPS) is an initiative of the Urban Planning program at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

All lectures are free and open to the public; refreshments are provided. For more information or to make program suggestions, email lipscolumbiaplanning@gmail.com.
