Junko Nakagawa

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Junko Nakagawa is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP and teaches Integrated Design Building Systems.

As an associate of Atelier Ten and an experienced architect, Junko possesses a strong interest in the collaborative work with architects and design clients on high-performance building projects and masterplans. She is an experienced sustainable design consultant and an expert in LEED knowledge and administration.

Junko has worked on a wide variety of institutional, university, and commercial projects. Recently, she played an instrumental role in guiding Phase 1 of Columbia University’s Manhattanville Campus development to become the first university campus plan to be awarded with LEED for Neighborhood Development (ND) Platinum certification in the United States. Her current work includes environmental and LEED consulting services for a high-performance existing building renovation at New York University, a performing arts center at the University of Iowa, a museum in Philadelphia, a New York City library with the Department of Design and Construction, and a commercial development in Japan.

Junko holds an M.Arch from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. in Architecture from Washington University. She is a Registered Architect in the state of New York and a LEED-Accredited Professional.
