Lidia Ratoi

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Lidia Ratoi is an architect and robotic fabrication researcher, currently working as Assistant Professor (tenure track) at the University of Hong Kong and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP’s Architecture and Urban Design program. Her work investigates technological development within real-life scenarios, combining material experimentation, historical architectural artifacts, and emerging technology.

Across different geographies and programmatic scales, she has developed and built projects ranging from single-family houses and collective housing prototypes to ecological infrastructures, including the Traditional House of the Future in Guizhou, the Underground House of the Future in Sanmenxia, and Reformative Coral Habitats in Hong Kong. She is currently developing a housing prototype on Cheung Chau Island designed for both human and non-human inhabitants.

She is a graduate of Institute of Advanced Architecture Catalunia (IAAC), and has previously worked at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (KADK), and has taught in various capacities in Aarhus School of Architecture, TU Wien and Tongji University Shanghai. Her work has been shortlisted and awarded at the World Architecture Festival, the Dezeen Awards, and the Dezeen Awards China, and her research is supported by institutions such as Design Trust and Project Mingde Foundation.
