We are saddened to share the death of Jeh V. Johnson ‘53 CC '57 M.Arch, a graduate of both Columbia College and GSAPP. A celebrated professional, his work included some of the most notable projects in his longtime home of Dutchess County, New York, such as the Poughkeepsie YMCA and the Poughkeepsie Day School. He was deeply active in the community serving on the Board of Scenic Hudson and the Poughkeepsie Savings Bank, and was a member of the faculty at Vassar College for 37 years, inspiring and mentoring generations of young architects. As one of the 12 founding members of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), he contributed immeasurably to supporting and championing black architecture professionals. We offer our condolences to his wife, Norma Edelin Johnson, his son, Jeh Charles Johnson '82 LW, the former Secretary of Homeland Security, and his brother-in-law, Milton Edelin ‘54 CC ‘57 MArch.
