As part of this new role, Ibrahim will work closely with Dean Jaque and the entire GSAPP ecosystem to shape and position the school in the larger planetary context, developing strategic initiatives and formats within the school and fostering new alliances and projects within and beyond the academic realm. Ibrahim will also teach at GSAPP in the Spring 2026 semester.
A graduate of the school’s MSAAD program in 2020, Ibrahim is an architect, researcher, and writer. His work explores the entanglements of architecture, art, ecology, and geopolitics. Grounded in exhibition design and art direction, his research-based practice also looks into the intersections of curatorial and architectural strategies. Previously based in Milan, Ibrahim was a longtime collaborator at Formafantasma, leading exhibition design, research, and curatorial projects for institutions such as La Biennale di Venezia, Prada, Artek, and the UNESCO Pearling Path
Ibrahim’s recent projects in spatial design and art direction include commissions for Centro Pecci (in collaboration with the Art Institute of Chicago), Pioneer Works, Sotheby’s, and Maharam. His most recent writings have been published in PIN-UP, Errant Journal and Humboldt Books.
GSAPP Dean Jaque welcomes Ibrahim’s appointment, sharing:
“In his position, Ibrahim will play a critical role in positioning GSAPP’s future direction, accupuntering interdisciplinary collaborations, and amplifying the school’s engagement with pressing global issues. His experience at the intersection of architecture, research, and curatorial practice makes him an invaluable addition to our community.
Many of you have already met Ibrahim in the last few weeks—whether in Avery, during reviews, or in Venice at the Midnight Meeting. He brings a strong foundation in translating ideas into impactful spatial and institutional projects. Ibrahim joins GSAPP with a clear commitment to expanding how we think, collaborate, and act as a school.”
