For an installation at the Queens Museum, in association with David Eugin Moon’s “Speculative City: Flushing Corona Meadows” AAD studio, students’ proposals were placed atop the Panoramic model, in putting forth alternative plans, focusing on inequity, race, and the city, moving forward in relation to its local diverse communities in Flushing and Corona. As a remnant of the World’s Fair and commissioned by Robert Moses (and also intended to be used for city planning), the large historic model was briefly reappropriated to project upon it additional meanings and significance in the contemporary context. The students engaged the city post-pandemic after crisis but also studied environmental, infrastructural, and social issues in dealing with more equitable approaches to the site.
