A Vertical Brewery Incubator

The Vertical Brewery Incubator of Red Hook provides aspiring brewers with co-working spaces and access to equipment and stimulates interactions and collaborations amongst professionals and homebrewers. It integrates multiple terracotta cores as the permanent infrastructure device embedded with the primary resources required for brewing, as well as an architectural core to support the building.

The concept of Structural Hollowness is applied from micro to macro scales, from a single terracotta brick to the core’s performance in an urban setting. The Vertical Brewery Incubator establishes a conversation between production and the local community and creates a sharing platform between factory workers and the neighborhood. The roof is a chimney, a light well, and a farm. The core is structure, passage, and a brewery incubator.
