The main function of the building is water retention and water treatment; the two parts are combined through the school as a carrier. The water treatment system is a part of the architectural structure.
The water system is composed of three cores and three floors. The third floor represents the first step of water treatment: coagulation and flocculation. The second floor represents the second step: sedimentation. And the first floor represents the third step: filtration and disinfection. The three cores are vertical water systems with three steps in series, while the roof is also be used as a rainwater collection pond. In these three cores, the water from the water retention pond moves to the top by pump, goes through the three stages of water treatment, and finally flows to the water storage tank at the bottom of the retention pond. The water then continues to the community through pipes.
In the future, not only schools but also buildings supporting various functions may be equipped with such a water system.
