Grecale 2180

This research institute is located in a wetland park and works closely with the wind and sun. In 2180, it’s projected that water levels will rise an average of 13 feet; most areas of this site will transform into a wetland and wildlife parks as buffers against flood and storm risks. The parks and green areas create a network of sponges to absorb and store water. Small warehouses and residential buildings merge into a large structure with sustainable features for energy or food production facilities for a self-sustaining lifestyle. Meanwhile, new structures on the site are shaped in response to the northeastern prevailing wind, which is harnessed by the architecture of the research institute. Exploring the potentials of wind and algae, the architecture proposes an immersive clean alternative for the residents in Sao Paulo.
