Bogota is a hotspot of biodiversity and a popular destination for bird-watchers. Birds are not only an essential part of the natural ecosystem but also an important indicator of the health of the urban environment. Using the existing bird-watching activities as our seed of change, we propose to better protect the various bird species and their habitat needs by adding green corridors and green roofs in the vicinity of the wetlands. The proposal will also improve the ecosystem of the wetlands and the surrounding neighborhoods through setting up systems for cleaning the waste and making wetland edges into productive landscapes. Partnerships are also proposed between the community and local schools and organizations that can become stewards of the wetland and the bird habitats. Bird-watching platforms within the wetland and communities are expected to drive and support bird watching and tourism that can benefit the communities.
