What if the armory could bring the outside in?
Imagine a sanctuary where the boundary between exterior and interior dissolves, revealing a harmonious coexistence between nature and architecture. The Living Armory envisions a transformative urban space, blending nature and architecture in the heart of a bustling community. Positioned amidst educational institutions, markets, and residences, we wanted to seamlessly integrate the armory into the fabric of the neighborhood.
The design revolves around three unconditioned vessels. These vessels dynamically respond to seasons, serving as open green spaces in summer and transforming into greenhouses during winter, ensuring year-round comfort. The upper floor embraces flexibility, inviting city elements to infuse life into adaptable spaces for diverse activities. Formal underground programs, including a reflective pool, parking facility, and an enchanting outdoor theater, enhance functionality and ambiance.
The armory supports local entrepreneurship by providing above-ground spaces for art exhibitions, community events, and markets, fostering economic growth and cultural exchange. Diverse programs generate employment opportunities, contributing to the economic vitality of the community.
It is a harmonious blend of sustainability and creativity, offering a unique blueprint for urban spaces that seamlessly integrate with nature, adapt to community needs, and inspire creativity and community interaction.
