In response to the alarming prevalence of school shootings, my architectural intervention serves as a protest against the exploitative nexus of America’s gun culture and the profiting school safety industry. The Tropicana Hotel & Casino, host to the National School Safety Conference, the site of damage, becomes the site of resistance. Pneumatic tubes infiltrate the resort & casino, obstructing views of the Vegas Strip and filling with bullet casings from live gun demonstrations and school safety product testing. Conference attendees, enticed by the allure of Vegas, encounter the harsh reality of gun culture as they engage in the testing of safety products. The sound of bullet casings echoing through the tubes serves as an auditory protest, disrupting the resort, casino, & hotel space, challenging the politics of safety. The intervention aims to provoke reflection, exposing the unsettling truth behind the commodification of school safety and the urgent need for change.
