Finding Levels proposes a transformative approach to architecture at the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal, aiming to return reclaimed land to the community and provide waterfront access. Through land dissolution, it creates a marshland serving Sunset Park’s resilience. Additionally, it introduces a public library at 39th Street and 2nd Avenue, fostering community engagement. The design features various levels, encouraging diverse interactions and blending architectural experiences. By leveraging the tension between land topology and built form, it creates dynamic architectural spaces. The proposal aims for a harmonious integration of built form, topology, and landscape, emphasizing their interconnectedness. This holistic approach redefines architecture as a culmination of these elements, rather than separate entities. By incorporating socio-economic considerations and innovative design strategies, Finding Levels seeks to address the pressing needs of the community while promoting sustainability and resilience.
