The Sankofa Eco-Village is designed specifically for African American elders, integrating every facet of African cultural essence into a community that is economically sustainable and heritage-focused. This innovative project addresses the unique needs of the elderly in safety, health, social interaction, psychological well-being, and economic stability, accommodating 30 to 40 elders along with their families or volunteers. The village fosters a vibrant community life through its three core programs: the Elder Social Farm, Senior Housing, and the Village Center. Each is crafted to support the elders comprehensively, from agricultural education and relaxation spaces at the Elder Social Farm to the culturally enriching Handicraft Workshop and the multifunctional Senior Housing. This eco-village isn’t merely a place of residence but a dynamic environment that promotes security, health, and active community engagement, thereby enriching lives and ensuring a sustainable legacy of cultural richness and communal harmony.
