The secret behind “Dish with children playing in a garden”

In the Song Dynasty, infant drama themed painting was a highly popular type of painting. Influenced by the social environment of war, living conditions, and medical conditions at that time, ordinary people and aristocratic rulers hoped that their families would have many children and grandchildren, and that their people would prosper. Infant drama themed paintings gradually flourished under the encouragement of the imperial examination.

As a type of genre painting, infant play painting deeply reflects the socialization situation and aesthetic characteristics of the times at that time.
