Earth Park, NYC

Underneath the artificial crust of our sidewalks and streets lies the original earth of the island of Mannahatta. This intervention proposes a resurfacing of this hidden substrate in the form of a vertical urban park. Taking advantage of underutilized sites and visualizing a network of similar artifacts, the proposal imagines an inhabitable section of geological strata, allowing city dwellers to re-engage the tactile and olfactory qualities of earthen material.
