Our studio, commissioned by the municipality of Renca, gathered socio-spatial data through community engagement, surveys, and interviews. In conjunction with spatial data, we identified key issues that residents face while living in the commune. Thematically, these are perceptions of safety and stigmatization, disconnection, spatial inequality, and access to funding for community development. By using an asset-based approach, we developed recommendations that would allow Renca to build on its existing strengths to address these issues and ultimately make Renca more safe, environmentally sustainable, offer economic opportunities, and become a place where people would want to stay.
