Architecture as object Architecture for objects

Project by Sungjik Kim, Shiyu Wang

This project rethinks housing not as a finished product, but as a neutral vessel—a spatial framework activated by the lives of its inhabitants. Rather than prescribing lifestyles, it creates a structured yet flexible system where people define their own ways of living.

Focusing on two often-overlooked groups—elderly and younger immigrants—the design resists dictating identity. Instead, it provides a structural framework where personal objects, rituals, and stories shape the home. Here, architecture does not express identity; it enables it.

Ultimately, we are not designing architecture as an object, but as a vessel to hold objects, memories, and life as it unfolds.
