The Sound Field

Project by Nutdanai Paisantuksin

The Sound Field is more than an architectural intervention; it is a sonic ecosystem, a place where listening, composing, and coexisting unfold as one continuous act. The desert island of Kivotos becomes a living archive of natural sounds, meticulously recorded and transformed into a layered, evolving soundscape. A residency program invites students and practitioners of electronic music to inhabit the island, composing and performing works drawn directly from its acoustics. Here, music-making begins with attentive listening to wind, stone, water, and birds, and extends into a shared exploration of sound as a way of dwelling. The residency culminates in small-scale concerts, where intimate audiences gather to experience the island’s sonic textures as both material and performance. THE SOUND FIELD INVITES US TO INHABIT A LANDSCAPE NOT ONLY PHYSICALLY, BUT ACOUSTICALLY.
