Project by Chang Cao
This Rising Intertidal envisions an intertidal education and remediation landscape at Domino Park, where biochar concrete made from Hudson Valley agricultural waste mediates between carbon sequestration and coastal restoration. Terraced geometries and biochar concrete cells generate self-sustaining intertidal habitats while linking rural biomass cycles to urban ecological repair. Over time, rising sea levels gradually shift the project’s role from public learning space to long-term underwater restoration, allowing the architecture to transition from civic infrastructure into an enduring ecological system.
