My intervention puts normal people in touch with concrete reprocessing, leading them to become naturally curious about the concept. Concrete is the most used construction material in the world, and it is one of the most carbon-positive. Strides have been made to curb its emissions, like with the inclusion of carbon-locking substances such as biochar; however, material research is only half the battle. The other necessary part of the puzzle is getting actors to adopt usage at scale, which can only be done if incentives are present. One useful lever is policy implementation, made possible through the spreading of awareness. The intervention addresses the need for waterfront access in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and allows the public to traverse the factory through a series of meandering, hermetically sealed paths, which ultimately lead to a series of pools, saunas, and recreation area.
