Project by Dhanistha Martifauzi @denmartifauzi
Located on Strivers’ Row in Harlem, this project reimagines the mental-health clinic through a juxtaposition with cultural space, where healing occurs through art. Serving both youth and adults, the clinic integrates art therapy with counseling, allowing individuals to express and understand themselves beyond words. Studios are placed at the core, emphasizing making as the first step of recovery. A gallery exhibits clients’ work, transforming them from patients into contributors. An artist residency enriches the environment, while therapists guide the process. The building fosters a supportive, non-institutional setting where creativity becomes a shared path toward psychological healing and belonging.
