Kaimin Wang This project explores how architecture can support mindfulness through everyday bodily actions: walking, eating, and sitting. Based on research at a monastery, it responds to increasing summer visitors and the need for a larger dining hall. The design organizes the site through five dimensions—time, activity, user group, level of practice, and duration of stay—allowing different users to coexist. A continuous circulation system connects forest walking paths, retreat areas, and dining spaces. The dining hall is conceived as a sequence of actions—from washing hands to eating in silence and breathing together—transforming eating into a meditative experience. Spatial strategies such as flexible zoning and roof manipulation enhance perception and awareness.
By integrating movement, routine, and environment, the project translates mindfulness practice into spatial form.
