We developed a module which contains living and working layers to attempt two things. The first is to install a permanent structure for the living layer, via the module, to discourage the endless aggregation of spaces that cater to the whims of the real estate market. In doing this we discourage gentrification and encourage a mixed-income demographic for the Chelsea area. The second is to propose a new way of living. With the living layers only containing necessities (bathroom, bed, and kitchen) the working layer enables a great deal of flexibility. The proprietor of the module chooses individually or jointly with other proprietors about how to construct activity with the spaces located below the living area.
