This project takes place in the future when New York City no longer accepts plastic products as a result of laws enacted to reduce the carbon footprint within the city, such as the banning of plastic bags and the zero-waste initiative. A new circular economy emerges at this time based on the existing supply, commodifying plastic and eliminating its typical single-use purpose in a series of interlocking spaces where the plastic transformation process is observed and exchanged in various states. By introducing multiple lifespans to plastic without further contributing to the toxicity of the environment, the purpose of the material transforms and the existing ecological impact caused by plastic pollution is reduced.
